It's easy for companies going out of business to blame the recession
for what happened. While it played a big part for their downfall, it
wasn't the only reason.
If it's the only reason why the companies who went out of business failed, then there should be a whole lot more companies going down the drain because the recession is a global headache.
Right now, there are a lot of opportunities that are thriving even during these dark times - especially home businesses. There are a lot of home business opportunities that are taking this challenge head on, and winning.
So what makes them succeed?
It's because most home business owners have seen failure first-hand. In order to avoid the same failure that they experienced, we should learn from companies going out of business or those already out of business.
Here are the things that we can learn from them:
• Nothing is constant - This is the first lesson that we should learn. Even if you are experiencing success right now, don't stop your efforts.
• Keep your operations as small as possible - Don't get me wrong. Even if you have a small business, you should aim for global success. What I'm trying to say is don't bite off more than you can chew. If you don't need to expand, don't. If you don't need a new office in the new skyscraper, then don't. It will save you a lot of costs and debts.
• The companies going out of business or out of business didn't adapt to change - Most of these companies have been doing the same thing for years. While some of us can't believe that a 100 year old company can go out of business, it's happening. It doesn't matter how long you've been in business. If you can't adapt to change then you're going to suffer.
• Learn how to manage and use your resources - Most of these companies had the resources years before the recession happened. But most of them didn't know how to manage and use their resources properly. If you have the money, use it for further research on how you're going to improve how your business is being conducted.
• Never stop learning - Don't rest on your laurels. The companies going out of business now are probably hoping that they never stopped learning and training. It would have helped them adapt to the current challenges.
If you learn from their mistakes, you can easily overcome any challenges.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very good advice on all accounts. I'm glad you mentioned never stop learning! Continually learning about a profession or industry is so rewarding.
